WhyTrace Plus Pricing Guide: Free, Starter, and Pro Plans Explained

WhyTrace Plus pricingplansfree planPro plan

Pricing pages are one of the more frustrating parts of evaluating safety and quality software. Enterprise platforms routinely ask you to book a demo before revealing any numbers. Mid-market tools hide limits behind vague descriptions like "limited analyses" without specifying what limited actually means.

This guide goes the other direction. Every plan is listed with exact limits, every included feature is named, and the comparison to enterprise EHS pricing is direct. If WhyTrace Plus fits your operation, you should be able to determine that here without a sales call.

The feature set is consistent across all three plans. What changes between tiers is volume — and, at the Enterprise level, custom framework configuration and API access.

Free Plan: ¥0/month

The Free plan is a complete product, not a demo environment. Every framework, every AI function, every export format is available from the first day with no credit card required.

Monthly limits: 3 analyses, 10 reports, 10 AI queries.

These numbers were chosen deliberately. Three analyses per month is enough for small operations running two or three serious investigations — recordable incidents, significant near-misses, major nonconformities — on any given month. Ten reports covers those analyses plus any supplementary documentation. Ten AI queries spans an average investigation's interview and knowledge-check needs.

What works on Free:

All four standard RCA frameworks are available without restriction. A user on the Free plan can run a 5M1E investigation for a quality escape, switch to SHELL for a human-factors incident, and apply FTA to a process safety scenario — in the same month, using the full functionality of each framework. The only thing that tracks toward the monthly limit is the number of analyses opened, not the number of framework switches.

The AI interview — the guided conversational investigation that builds the cause tree as you respond — runs on Free. So do the AI quiz (for testing investigation methodology understanding across your team) and the RAG chat (for querying regulatory references and organizational knowledge during an investigation). All three AI functions draw from the same 10-query monthly allocation.

ReactFlow cause-tree visualization renders the full causal diagram as the investigation progresses, not after the fact. It is interactive — branches can be restructured, annotated, and expanded directly in the diagram view. For management presentations and CAPA submissions, the visual output communicates cause structure faster than written narrative, and it exports at the same quality on Free as on paid plans.

CAPA tracking is included. Each investigation can carry corrective actions with assigned owners and due dates. The connection between cause finding and corrective action is maintained in the same record — something spreadsheet-based workflows cannot reliably do.

Export formats (PDF, Excel, CSV) produce the same output on Free as on paid plans. The PDF report satisfies the documentation requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and OSHA investigation procedures.

Who the Free plan is the complete solution for: Individual EHS coordinators, quality managers at single-site operations, teams running three or fewer priority investigations per month, and anyone who wants to evaluate the product on real incidents before committing budget.

Where Free falls short: Volume. When investigation frequency grows beyond three per month — high near-miss reporting programs, multi-team environments, organizations running parallel investigations — the monthly ceiling becomes a real constraint. The limitation is capacity, not access to any feature.

Pro Plan: ¥980/month

The Pro plan removes the volume ceiling that constrains the Free plan for busier operations.

Monthly limits: 50 analyses, 100 reports, 100 AI queries.

At 50 analyses per month, Pro comfortably covers organizations running active near-miss programs, multi-department quality investigation workflows, and teams that investigate both serious incidents and lower-severity events in a structured way. For context: an operation with one reportable incident per week, four near-miss investigations per week, and two quality nonconformity analyses per week would consume roughly 28 analyses per month — well within Pro's allocation.

The 100-report ceiling provides room for drafts, revisions, and supplementary documentation beyond the investigation records themselves. The 100 AI queries support deeper investigation conversations, multiple quiz cycles for team training, and regular RAG chat use throughout the month.

Everything on the Free plan works identically on Pro. The frameworks are the same. The AI functions operate the same way. The export outputs are identical. There is no feature that becomes "better" at the Pro level — the only change is that the monthly counters reset at higher thresholds.

Who Pro is for: EHS teams at small-to-mid-size manufacturers, construction contractors running active near-miss programs, quality managers handling regular nonconformity investigations, and any organization where three analyses per month is reliably not enough but the full Enterprise tier would be more capacity than the workflow requires.

At ¥980/month, the Pro plan falls within the discretionary budget of a single department — no budget committee, no implementation project.

Enterprise Plan: ¥4,980/month

The Enterprise plan removes all volume limits and adds two capabilities not available at lower tiers.

Monthly limits: None — analyses, reports, and AI queries are all unlimited.

Custom frameworks: Organizations with established investigation category structures — internal standards that differ from 4M, 5M1E, SHELL, and SRE — can configure custom frameworks on Enterprise. This matters for organizations that have invested in proprietary investigation methodology, comply with industry-specific standards that prescribe particular cause taxonomies, or run parallel programs where different incident types use different cause structures.

API access: Enterprise includes API access for integrating WhyTrace Plus investigation data with existing systems — EHS management platforms, quality databases, business intelligence tools, or internal reporting infrastructure. For organizations that want investigation findings, corrective actions, and recurrence trend data to flow into dashboards or other enterprise systems without manual export, API access is the enabling capability.

Unlimited capacity means Enterprise is appropriate for multi-site deployments, organizations running continuous near-miss reporting programs at scale, consulting teams managing multiple client investigations simultaneously, and any operation where volume unpredictability would make a per-analysis cap a management burden.

How WhyTrace Plus Pricing Compares to Enterprise EHS Software

The enterprise EHS software market — Intelex, Cority, Enablon, VelocityEHS — serves large organizations with broad compliance, occupational health, and environmental reporting needs. These platforms are built for multi-national organizations managing permit inventories, health surveillance programs, and regulatory reporting across jurisdictions. For those requirements, their pricing reflects the scope.

What that pricing looks like in practice: Intelex and Cority are typically quoted from $50,000 per year as a base platform fee, before user counts, module selection, and implementation. Implementation costs for complex deployments commonly run $50,000 to $200,000+. Multi-year total cost of ownership for an enterprise EHS platform in a large organization regularly exceeds $300,000.

For comparison:

Solution Annual Cost Investigation Capability
Enterprise EHS suite (Intelex, Cority) $50,000–$200,000+ base RCA as one module among many
WhyTrace Plus Enterprise ¥59,760/year (~$400 USD) Dedicated AI-guided RCA platform
WhyTrace Plus Pro ¥11,760/year (~$78 USD) 50 analyses/month, full feature set
WhyTrace Plus Free ¥0 3 analyses/month, full feature set

The cost differential is not a sign that the products are interchangeable. Enterprise EHS platforms cover occupational health records, environmental compliance calendars, ESG reporting, and contractor management — capabilities WhyTrace Plus does not include. Organizations that need those capabilities should evaluate the platforms built for them.

The relevant comparison is narrower: for teams whose gap is specifically investigation quality — structured RCA, AI-guided cause analysis, and corrective action follow-through — WhyTrace Plus provides more investigation depth than the RCA modules embedded in the large suites, at a fraction of the cost. Those platforms treat root cause analysis as one workflow among dozens. Here, it is the entire product.

Choosing the Right Plan

The question is usually not which features you need — they are all available on every plan. The question is how many investigations you run per month.

Free: Up to three investigations per month. Full feature access. No time limit — the free plan does not expire. If your operation runs two serious investigations in an average month, Free may be your permanent plan, not just a trial.

Pro: Regular investigation activity that exceeds three per month — active near-miss programs, multi-department quality workflows, or any situation where the Free limit creates a real constraint. At ¥980/month, the cost is low enough that volume uncertainty is not a meaningful risk.

Enterprise: High-volume operations, multi-site or multi-team deployments, organizations that need custom framework configuration, or teams that want to connect WhyTrace Plus investigation data to other systems via API. Also appropriate for organizations that simply want unlimited capacity and no monthly counter to track.

Because all features are available on all plans, there is no workflow disruption when moving between tiers. Investigation records, cause trees, and corrective actions carry forward. Changing plans changes capacity limits, not the tool.
